Exploring the Czech Republic

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC:
Introduction

Welcome to the Instructions for Use of the Czech Republic!

My name is Marta, I’m Czech and I’m a translator and an occasional tourist guide.

The people in my sightseeing tours often ask me questions that make me think about the Czech Republic from the point of view of someone who doesn’t live here. I myself lived abroad for three years, and that helped me learn to look at my country “from outside”.

Gradually, lots of interesting trivia, observations and thoughts accumulated in my head – and I wanted to share them with someone.

I’ll be happy if this website helps you understand the Czech Republic better.

If you’re looking for practical advice on accommodation, jobs and sight-seeing in Prague, please go back and open the “Useful links” category.

If you’re struggling to understand Czech culture and way of thinking, please go back and open the “Why and how?” category.

This website tries to provide useful and interesting info that is hard to find in English: on the specific cities, transport, people, language, less-well-known places to visit during the weekend… I hope you enjoy reading it.

All the best! :-)

Marta

By the way, we don’t have wild giraffes in the Czech Republic :-) I put it in the logo among the symbols of places you can visit – we have 10 zoos, and giraffes are very popular.
